Filling Buckets!
There’s a children’s book called “Have You Filled a Bucket Today?”
that I absolutely love and read to Aaden almost every night. It’s a
simple tool to help teach children how to be happy. The concept is
that everyone in the world has an imaginary bucket that they carry
with them all day and every day. You can either be “bucket filler” or
a “bucket dipper” based on your attitude and how you treat and
interact with other people. “Bucket fillers” are those that treat
people nicely, smile, and have a positive outlook. “Bucket dippers”
are the opposite- you get the idea!
Today's route was on a long trail where I was able to come into
contact with several people throughout the course. There were
several fellow runners, bikers and walkers out enjoying the beautiful
weather and getting some exercise! It's hard not to be friendly on
such a great day. As I made a conscience effort to say "good morning"
with a smile to each person I came into contact with, I thought about this
book. It Is really amazing what a simple smile can do. Not only did it make me
feel good to be friendly with others but their return smile indicated that
it also made them feel good.
Be positive, love, share happiness, smile, and surround yourself with
people who do the same :-)
